FORD DO NOT DESTROY YOUR BEST VEHICLE

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

Everyone knows I bleed blue but allow me to speak out, where the "Big 3" keeps messing up. I have worked for all the Detroit companies and they all make the same mistake. They take a good seller and a desirable vehicle and they flood the market with fleet. The Dodge Charger; police car, Chevy Impala; police car and now the new bad ass Taurus SHO is going to be Ford's next police car. Please Ford do not make this awesome vehicle a car that you see everywhere. Keep the panther platform and build police cars that we the public can not buy. It totally brings down the vehicles's value and nobody wants to pay $38,000.00 on a car and see every policeman driving the same thing. Please reconsider, do not destroy the best vehicle you just came out with.

Ford The Ignoramus

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

Henry Ford is the father of building vehicles in mass quantity and the great grandfather of William Clay Ford Jr, Chairman of FMC. Mr. Ford who's education is far less in comparison to Bill but a smart man nevertheless, knew very little about history which oddly enough is what Bill Ford received his degree in. However, Mr. Ford was involved in a law suit with the Chicago Tribune and at some point the Tribune called Mr. Ford an ignoramus and his reply was "Prove it!". So the Tribune asked a series of high school level history questions that Mr. Ford got mostly wrong. Mr. Ford finally replied "I don't know the answers to those questions but I could find a man in 5 minutes who does". Exactly, even Bill Gates has said he is no smarter than anyone else he just knows a lot about what he does. Mr. Ford knew about cars and new how to run a business. In fact he helped his cousin start a business using the left over wood from his assembly line, "Kingsford Charcoal" proving once again his business smarts.

We Need No Money

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

The Blue Oval has never been so blue. I been there through thick and thin and I worked for all of the Big 3 and I always made it clear how I felt about Ford. I guess that's why I wasn't with GM very long. We always new Ford was the best but now it feels so good to see America catching on. The day Alan said to congress. No sir we do not need any money, we can survive for 2 more years under these horrible conditions, we are just here to help GM and Chrysler. That was the day I knew everything would change. Ford stock went from less than $1.50 a share to nearly $12.00 14 months later. I am proud of Ford and I am proud of Alan and William Clay. We just need to work on them damn Detroit Lions.

Do Not Over Pay

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

One of the first things I learned when I was 22 selling cars is if the company is making a little profit then sell the car because we can always get another one. First you should know invoice really is invoice on a car, that is what a dealer pays for that vehicle but here is what dealerships don't want you to know. First, every new car has something called holdback and every car has a different amount but usually on American made cars it is 2% of the sticker and less on Japanese cars. Hold back is designed to pay floorplan on that vehicle for 3 months. So if a dealer pays cash for his vehicles or sells them before 3 months then some to all of that holdback went to profit. However if the car is on the lot longer than 3 months the dealer starts loosing money. Next, most auto makers have different programs for dealers getting money back on selling a set number of cars. Don't think the bigger dealers hit their numbers easier because they are bigger, not true. The number assigned to each dealer is based on what a dealer of that size and in that area should sell. While in a dealership do not try to negotiate these numbers because dealers in most cases will not do it and some will deny they exsist. So how to avoid negotiating is by simply telling your salesperson that you would like to see the invoice on the car and then make an offer of $200.00 over invoice. Don't be silly and ask to see a lot of invoices, wait just after you decided on a vehicle then ask about that vehicle only. Most dealers will be willing to do so but some will not and if they don't go to the next dealer because they will. If you are looking at a really hot new car or a hard to get car then this procedure will not work, in fact you will be at the dealer's mercy because of the supply and demand of the vehicle. Anyway, good luck and if you have any questions please ask.

The First

Everyone says their car company is the best and I am here to tell you they all need each other. For example; Chrysler, 1st car maker to use an airbag, Porsche, 1st to use passenger side airbag. Ford, 1st to use power adjustable pedals. Toyota, 1st to produce hybrids. Mercedes, 1st to have crumple zones. Volvo, 1st to have modern 3 point belt. Oldsmobile, 1st to use an automatic transmission and it goes on and on. Some companies do better than others in certain areas but even the best took ideas from the worst.

Chrysler at it's Best and Worst

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

The best and worst idea in the auto industry involved the same person and company, Lee Iacocca and Chrysler. Lee was President of Ford for a number of years and was the brains behind the Mustang and despite having Ford turn a $2 billion profit in 1978 Iacocca and Ford parted ways. Chrysler on the verge of collapsing under major debt and low sales somehow got Iacocca to come run the company. As first order of business Lee got a publicly frowned upon loan backed by the U.S. government. Then he implemented his minivan and K-car ideas and saved the company while paying back the loan 7 years early. After Chrysler was thriving Lee retired in 1992 but later tried to buy the company as it was on a down slope once again but was stopped by Chrysler executives. Since that time Chrysler has been sold and bought 3 times and needed another bailout. I hope it works out but they would have been better off with Lee Iacocca at the helm once again.

VW Beetle and WWII

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

Here is a little fact about the VW Beetle you might not know. The Beetle started production in 1938 and after the war was over Ford was offered the VW company for free. Under advisement of his staff Henry Ford II declined due to the fact the factory had been bombed and Americans feelings about Germany were to a point that if Ford would have said yes it could have ruined Ford back home. In fact some British companies turned the offer down as well. Anyway the Beetle resumed production and kept the car relatively unchanged until 2003 when the last Beetle was made in Mexico. Although the Beetle was no longer sold in the U.S. it still was sold in many other countries. As time went on and safety and emission laws became stiffer, less and less countries sold the vehicle until it didn't even pass Mexican laws. VW kept the car the same not due to lack of technology but due to the fact that people wanted the car that way and it was very inexpensive. So while the New Beetle was introduced to us in 1999, little did most of us know that the old Beetle was still in production for another 4 years.

America Challenges Japan in Fuel Efficiency

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

I am here to set the record straight about America's 5 auto makers. Of course Detroit's Big Three plus Tesla Motors and Fisker Automotive. The Japanese certainly started the trend of fuel efficient vehicles but Americans are in the process of passing. Tesla and Fisker produce nothing but electric vehicles although on a small scale with Fisker selling their first this year and Tesla approaching a rate of 2000 vehicles per year. Back to Detroit; I hate to admit it but Fiat killed Chrysler's hybrid and electric vehicle department to focus on getting the company where it needs to be. Fix the company and then make better cars, I can live with that. GM has the electric Volt coming out this year along with the Chevy Cruze that is rumored to get 45 mpg on a gas engine. GM's new 304hp Camaro gets 29 mpg. Ford came out with the 365hp EcoBoost engine that gets 25 mpg and the Fiesta that gets 39 mpg. They have a new Focus coming out that runs on electric and a diesel Focus that gets 63 mpg. They also are testing hydrogen Explorer's currently. Looks to me like somebody not only showed up to play but win.

"I am Proud to be a Fordican"

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

I have worked for all of the "Big 3", Toyota and Kia. I love all cars but Ford has always been my favorite. You will never hear me talk bad about a car company except maybe the company that made the Yugo but they won't care. Anyway, true fans and Ford lovers are there with Ford no matter what. When the Firestone tire recall happened I drove my Expedition proud and left my Firestone tires on because I was not embarrassed. When Ford stock fell to under $1.50 a share in late 2008 all kinds of people called me and asked what they should do, sell or stick it out. I said STICK IT OUT?! You don't need to stick it out you need to take every dollar you have and buy as much Ford stock as you possibly can. Of course everyone was in amazement but I explained. First I said this is Ford Motor Company, one of the 10 largest companies in the world, they will not fail nor will they be allowed to. Second I said, did you here what Alan Mulally said on national TV with the GM and Chrysler CEO's right beside him. He said he was there to get across to congress that we could not allow any American automaker to fail and he added that Ford did not need the money and in fact they could survive under the current conditions for another 2 years. I then said "DID YOU HEAR ME?". GM and Chrysler will not survive another 3 months without help but Ford can survive another 2 years and if conditions improve then Ford can go even longer. Guess what? Conditions improved! I knew Ford was on there way back to their heyday. So $10,000.00 of Ford stock bought in late 2008 would be worth around $80,000.00 to $90,000.00 today. That's right! Ford has not been surviving they have been thriving compared to most auto companies right now. Not only because they are financially in better condition but there quality and technology is second to none. Funny how the congress woman at the Toyota interrogation yesterday said she bought a Camry hybrid because the Americans did not make one on that level. She showed that she did not do her homework because the Ford Fusion Hybrid beat out Camry Hybrid for "Car of the Year". The last thing that I am proud about with Ford is how they will not kick a company when they are down. I have not seen one commercial with Ford taking advantage of Toyota's current problems. In fact 95% of all Ford commercials give the advantages of their vehicle's not the disadvantage's of others. Like I said I like all car companies, even GM but GM goes pretty far with tearing down other vehicles to sell their own. In one commercial GM makes fun of Ford's innovative side and tailgate steps by calling them "Man Steps". I was in shock because in my mind they were selling Ford's by showing the step. They were trying to make fun of an option that over 90% of consumers want. Maybe that's why that commercial had a short life span. Once again I have been proud of Ford when they were down and I am proud of Ford now while they are on top. I have a feeling they are here to stay this time. I love you Ford.

"Shame on you congress for being so ignorant about the very subject you questioned Toyota about."

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

Well the CEO of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, was in the hot seat for hours today being drilled by the panel consisting of mostly people that had no business to ask any questions. Over the years we have seen many business leaders in that same hot seat from Howard Hughes to the CEO's of Wall Street. One thing has become apparent to me from watching these panel's grill the "Big Three" CEO's last year to the grilling of Mr. Toyoda today is that congress does not know what they are talking about. Once again I bleed blue as in the Ford Blue Oval but I really need to stick up for Toyota today. While I don't agree with Toyota's recent recall practices, I certainly do not agree with what I saw happen on CNBC today. Members of Congress were asking questions that made themselves look stupid or at the very least lacking knowledge of the auto industry. One of the members of congress must have asked 5 times why Toyota uses two different suppliers for the gas pedal. The congressman felt that Toyota should use only one company. I felt sorry for Akio at this point because I could tell he was struggling to understand the question as well as struggling to have his interpreter convey his answer correctly. As I have worked for many auto manufacturer's I know that it is common practice for all car companies to use multiple suppliers. One supplier can not handle the load nor can they be in every country to fill orders. That would be like saying all car manufacturer's buy all their steel from one mill, that's ridiculous. Car companies use multiple mill's just like McDonald's uses multiple farms, and even the U.S. Government uses multiple mints for coins. Shame on you congress for being so ignorant about the very subject you are questioning  Mr. Akio Toyoda on. My point is the panel is not ridiculous but the people who are asking the questions are. Only people who are knowledgeable in such a subject should be allowed to do the questioning. After all if I was asked to form and head a panel for an inquisition on the practices of pharmaceutical companies, I would certainly get the right people but I wouldn't ask question number one because I have no idea what the correct answer should be. So while I do agree that Toyota should be held responsible for their recall practices I also believe they have the right not to be put in question by a person that is ignorant on the subject. I hate to say it because I love Detroit but don't think for one minute that Detroit is not in someway urging congress to take action. Let's not forget one very important fact, Toyota employee's over 170,000 Americans. It is difficult to get accurate numbers from Chrysler right now with it being a private company merging with Fiat but I would not be surprised to learn that Toyota has more Americans employed than Chrysler.

The Best And Worst Of Cars: ALRIGHT, WHO MESSED UP ALL THEM TOYOTA'S?!!!!!

The Best And Worst Of Cars: ALRIGHT, WHO MESSED UP ALL THEM TOYOTA'S?!!!!!

ALRIGHT, WHO MESSED UP ALL THEM TOYOTA'S?!!!!!

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

Toyota is it's own worst enemy right now with these recall issues. In comparison Toyota has accidentally shot it's self in the foot and while bending over to check the wound they shot themselves again in the leg. If they are not careful they are going to blow their head clean off. Auto manufacturer's recall millions of vehicles every year and this year is no different than any other except Toyota has no idea how to deal with a massive recall. Allow me to throw some numbers and facts at you here. The 10 biggest recalls in U.S. history are in the following order according to company; 1)Ford  2)GM  3)GM  4)Ford  5)Ford  6)Toyota - present recall    7)Ford  8)GM  9)VW 10)Honda. So as you can see this recall although thought to be the biggest by most Americans is out done by 5 different Ford and GM recalls. These numbers don't even take into consideration the Ford-Firestone fiasco because it was a tire issue and not a vehicle problem. If the Ford-Firestone fiasco were to count then Ford would beat it's current first place position by millions and millions of vehicles. So what is the difference, why is Toyota catching so much heat on what should be regular auto manufacturer duties? Anyone that knows me, knows I bleed blue as in the Ford Blue Oval but allow me to pick on them a little more here. Ford, every year recalls an absurd amount of vehicles, I know this because I worked there. Ford implemented 95% of all its recalls while I worked for them and it is always better to do recalls voluntarily rather than government enforced. In fact Ford replaced nearly 20 million tires in the early 2000's for damage control on the Firestone fiasco. As a manufacturer you never want the government to get involved in recalls because debacle's like the current Toyota recall happens. So although Ford was mandated by the government to change all Firestone tires on Explorer's and Expedition's, they went all the way for their customers and changed any Firestone tire on any Ford during the defective time period at a cost of $3 billion. Ford could have went the government route like Toyota currently is and it would have cost them less than $1 billion but would have cost billions and billions in sales on the long term. Ford did not blame Firestone, the CEO of Ford at the time Jacques Nasser, went on national TV and appoligized while extending an offer of changing all Firestone tires, not just on the named vehicles but all Ford vehicles of that time period. Ford took a hit that year but muscled through and did the right thing. Toyota's CEO Akio Toyoda and no I did not misspell his name, I think maybe he did but I didn't. He is the grandson of the founder of Toyota, in essence he is the William Clay Ford (chairman of ford) of Japan. He has been doing his best to avoid the media and he turned down a request made by the U.S. government to be interviewed by a panel. He later accepted, after I am sure his advisors told him it was the smart thing to do. So how can Toyota get through this major problem of what should have been a routine recall? Easy, address it to the point of overkill by doing whatever is needed to reassure the public.  Also do whatever is needed to get the U.S. government off your backs with their magnifying glasses inspecting everything you do now. Any customer that does not have a recalled vehicle but is still unsure about their Toyota, invite them to a dealer to have their car inspected for free. Ford, Gm, Honda, and even VW have gone through major recalls virtually unknown to the public because they addressed them quickly before the government could make a spectacle out of the recall. The Ford Focus has been recalled over 10 times but you never even heard a whisper from the press because Ford did the recalls quickly and quietly. Take note Toyota! To all you Toyota lovers out there, no need for despair, this is a small dent in what is usually an impectable reputation. Toyota will survive and they are and still will be a very high quality company.

The Best 8 Cars According To Me part 2 of 2

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

"The Best 8 Cars Acording To Me"
Part 2

5.     Ford Taurus SHO: I started working for Ford Jan. 4th 1997 and I was introduced to the Ford Taurus which was just another car to me. About a month later I came across my first SHO and I loved the car enough to buy a used 1996 model. Ford started making the SHO which stands for "Super High Output" in the 1980's. They took a regular Taurus and put a high powered V-6 Yamaha engine under the hood along with some interior and exterior styling upgrades. From 1996 to 1999 Ford dropped in a Yamaha V-8 engine producing 235hp hoping to compete against the "Pontiac Grand Prix GTP". The engine was a 3.4 V-8 and although producing a lot of horsepower was still very small and needed a lot of rpm's to get max power. So after 1999 production was canceled for a couple reasons other than just needing a better engine. First reason being nobody wanted a $30,000.00 Taurus in the late 90's. Another contributor to the SHO's demise was the car was never advertised. Ford seldom if ever advertised their SVT vehicles because there were only a handful of SVT dealers. So Ford did the right thing and now you can buy SHO's and Cobra's from any Ford dealer. So here we are 11 years later and Ford is on the ball. Not only are they advertising the heck out of this car but they also dropped in a 365hp EcoBoost Twin Turbo engine made by Ford that gets 25 mpg. This car is a rocket! The interior is second to none for quality and class and the exterior has head turning style as well.  The SHO shares a platform with the Lincoln MKS and in my opinion the SHO is everything the MKS is but $10,000.00 less and it looks better. Both cars share just about everything including the same engine but the SHO has 10hp more. The reason the SHO has 10hp more is because it is the "SHO" and it should have the most and as a result of a little change in the exhaust system they were able to gain the 10hp. I call this car "F to the 5th power". FORD, FAST, FINE, FUN and this is the FUTURE of Ford and I like it.

6.     Lexus LS:  The pricing for this vehicle starts around $65,000.00 but you will be hard pressed to find one in that range because people that buy this car go with the mack daddy $100,000.00 upgraded unit. Extra options such as the extended length vehicle, a hybrid, or even an option that allows the car to park itself can really get the price going upward. The people that you do see buying the $65,000.00 LS are the same people that are struggling to pay there bills and they over extend themselves because if you could afford this vehicle then why not get the one that has it all. So why you ask I put this car on my list of favorite's under $75,000.00. One reason, because if I did get this car, it would be the $65,000.00 unit and it would totally over extend me. All that money mumbo jumbo aside this is the best vehicle on the planet other than your half a million dollar Roll's, Bently's and Maybach's. I was able to experience a LS about a year ago and it was the second best vehicle I ever drove in my life next to the Rolls Royce Phantom I drove in 2006. It is the smoothest, quietest, most luxurious vehicle you can imagine. It will not handle like a sports car but then again people driving this car are going slow and easy to make sure everyone can see them, I know I would. Go look at one and admire the vehicle for what it is, pure luxury. Don't be shocked to not be offered a test drive because most vehicles of this caliber will require an agreed upon and signed contract before a test drive will even be considered.

7.      Hyundai Genesis: I almost didn't choose this car even though it really is one of my favorite's. I was worried about people's opinion of Hyundai and that's when I realized I love it and that is all that matters. Hyundai just gets it. Anyone that knows me knows my heart is with Ford but I have to say that Hyundai gets it and they are doing things right. If your not up on Hyundai then go to a dealership and see where they are in quality. I would compare this company to Toyota when they first introduced Lexus. Toyota was on the rise towards the top and started a luxury brand, Lexus towards the top as well. Toyota better look out because here comes Hyundai and they look extremely confident. They have a plant here in Alabama as well as a Kia plant in Georgia. In my opinion Hyundai is trying to convert themselves into a Lexus type brand while having their Kia brand on a Toyota level. Their quality is damn close to Toyota and they are on track to at least get close to Lexus. They are coming out with their third luxury car soon and its expected to be around the $50,000.00 price range. That price range is no joke when it comes to the world class competitors that are selling cars in that range. Anyway the Genesis is priced around $40,000.00 and where Hyundai got it right, is they built a car that looks just like the BMW's, Lexus' and Mercedes' in the $80,000.00 price range. I would be a fool to tell you that this car is better than those vehicles, so I won't but I will tell you that it is better than almost every other car in its price range. Don't believe me? Go drive one, you will be impressed.

8.     GMC Acadia: I wanted to put my favorite SUV on the list and a year ago it would have been Cadillac Escalade, Ford Expedition or even a Nissan Armada. All three of these SUV's are huge and that's what I liked about them but my hunger for the overly large SUV  has ended. I owned a Ford Excursion in the past and on my personal plates I was going to get "EPA ENEMY" just for laughs. I am not really a enemy of the E.P.A. but I assumed they would hate me because of my gas guzzling V-10. Although hilarious to me, my wife refused to allow me this indulgence and she was probably right. So here I am picking an SUV that still has the third row if needed and can still tow over 5000 pounds. Not too shabby for a vehicle with a V-6 engine turning out 288hp while still getting 23 mpg. GM actually makes three SUV's on this platform including the Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse. Anyone of these would fill my needs but I like the Acadia because of its styling. This vehicle is very sharp on the exterior while the interior would be more to my liking with a little luxury added. The Buick Enclave on the other hand is very well dressed on the interior but I am not crazy about the exterior. Well fear not boys and girls because this summer GMC is introducing the Acadia Denali which will pretty much be the Acadia dressed like a Cadillac. So I do believe this will solve my interior woe's. I have included to the right a picture of the exterior and interior of the Acadia and a third picture of the Buick Enclave interior so you can see what I mean by Buick having the nicer interior. I assume the Acadia Denali interior won't be far from that. Can't wait!

With my top 8 favorite car's list completed now I am wanting to go out and buy another car but that is a feeling I get often and if I acted on that feeling I would have 500 cars and be in bankruptcy. However if I were to go out tomorrow to buy one of these vehicles it would be either the Buick Lacrosse or the Ford Taurus SHO. Not because they are my number one and two favorite's but because they are my favorite's in what would be my price range. Man, I love cars! What's your favorite?

The Best 8 Cars According To Me part 1of 2

Written by: Jimmy Sesto

As I sit here contemplating my favorite cars I start day dreaming of a world where every car made is at my disposal. Some people have a favorite car or even two but myself, well lets just say if I had the money my collection would rival Jay Leno's. Not much unlike old Jay, my favorites range from $12,000.00 up to $2,000,000.00 but this list will be for vehicles under $75,000.00. I thought it would be best to write out my favorite cars on paper first before writing this article. The problem I have is if I write about all these cars, then I will be here until next week since the list tops out at nearly 60 vehicles. So in a moment of rational thinking I believe I will shorten that number to 8. Problem one solved. The second problem that I have encountered is positioning of these 8 vehicles. So to save me the burden of ranking the cars I have decided to list all 8 vehicles in no particular order. After all, my rankings usually change daily, just depending if I am in the mood to go fast, go in luxury, go inexpensively or just go pretty. So without further delay.....

"The Best 8 Cars According To Me"
                                               "Part 1"

1.     Buick LaCrosse: Wow, where did this car come from? Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, and even Saab all dead when it comes to General Motors "reingiting" themselves as they say. Out of those four, I considered three of them to be better vehicles than anything Buick made. Then Buick came out with the LaCrosse which may be GM's best vehicle for the money. This vehicle does share a platform with the Chevy Malibu. No surprise, all car companies share platforms to save money. Luckily for GM the Malibu is a nice car as well. In fact you might say the LaCrosse is like the Malibu after taking a Lexus pill. I say Lexus because the LaCrosse is directly marketed to go after the Lexus ES crowd. In fact it looks very similar to the Lexus but with more class in my opinion. Its funny because the Lexus slogan is "The Passionate Pursuit of Perfection". Buick directly attacks this slogan in the Lacrosse commercial. The narrator states "If perfection is what you pursue then this might just change your course" while going into the Lacrosse slogan "The new class of world class". Buick is going after all age ranges again and this car proves it. The LaCrosse starts pricing around $27,000.00 and going on up to a little over $37,000.00 fully loaded. Not too bad if your considering the Lexus ES fully loaded at a price around $42,000.00. The LaCrosse has two motors available but the larger 3.6 V-6 at 280hp gets 27 mpg highway which is 1 mpg better than the smaller available motor. The Lexus is nice but give the LaCrosse a test drive, after all its free to do so.

2.     Kia Forte Coupe : Surprised? I almost am myself. Kia has been in business nearly 60 years making various items including bicycles. At one point they started making a low end model for Ford since Ford did partly own Kia. Time went on and Ford tried to take over controlling interest of the South Korean company, however Hyundai beat them to the punch and took full control of Kia. Now we are in the 2000's and Hyundai has certainly improved their quality level considerably while doing the same with Kia. In fact almost every vehicle with a Kia badge shares a platform with Hyundai. There is no doubting the fact that Kia has arrived as a serious player in the game of auto's. So back to the Forte. Kia just recently introduced this model to replace the Spectra. Allow me to inform you that they got it right. This car looks like the Honda Civic Coupe but better. I love the styling on this car in and out and the quality is right in line with Honda and Toyota. I will give you a quick comparison with the Forte and Civic Coupe's. I will use the SX for Kia and Si for Honda. The Forte tops out with all the options including leather for $21,430.00 but you can get a base model for slightly over $12,000.00 on the four door. The SX comes with a 2.4 inline 4 cylinder engine producing 173hp and getting 32 mpg. The standard warranty is 5 years 60,000 miles bumper to bumper with a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. The Civic Si tops out just over $30,000.00 but included in that price are 18 inch wheels compared to the Forte's 17 inch wheels. The wheels on the Civic are over a $2000.00 option. Also in that price you do get an upgraded suspension and ground effects as well as some other accessories. The Civic does get 24hp more but gets 3 mpg less. On the Honda site you can compare the Civic to the Forte and it actually informs you that 5 years from now the Civic will retain 37% of its value while the Forte retains 39% of its value. The Forte deserves a closer look if your in the market for that type of car.

3.      Dodge Charger SRT8: This car is a bit odd to me and what I mean by that is I love this car but there are a few things I do not like about it. First let me start by saying that Chrysler has very few bright spots in its line up right now. They took the hatchet and starting chopping away at models. Just in recent times they stop producing the Pacifica, Crossfire, Aspen, Durango,Magnum and I am sure there are a couple more that I am forgetting but my point is this; Out of the "Big 3" this is the worst of the companies right now. They have had 4 different owners since the late 90's. They do have a few winners in their line up that they need to concentrate on like the Charger. A few things that make me unhappy about this car are things like cheap looking interior, quality still not where it should be, sell to anyone with a pulse. What I mean by that is every car company has a car that they fleet out for cop cars and taxicabs among other things. Ford does it with the Crown Vic, Chevy does it with the Impala and Dodge does it with the Charger. The problem with that is Dodge also sells the Charger as a high end American muscle car. Lastly the mpg's are just horrible, in fact they are so bad I couldn't find the mpg ratings for the SRT8 on the Dodge site, I had to get it elsewhere. Even knowing all this, the SRT8 still makes my list of top cars, why? Because this car is one BAD MAMMA JAMMA! I love old American muscle cars and the SRT8  is all American and Hemi Muscle. I would never buy this car as my lone vehicle but if I had the choice of any 10 cars, this bad boy would make the list. The Charger starts its pricing around $24,000.00 equipped with cheap wheels and cloth interior and 2.7 V-6 engine with 178hp that gets 26 mpg highway. Now the SRT8 comes with 20 inch wheels loaded with all the toys and a bad ass 6.1 Hemi V-8 that turns out an incredible 425hp. It only gets 13 mpg city and you will have to pay a gas guzzler tax of around $1700.00 bringing the total to $43,500.00. So if you can see past the cheap interior and bad gas mileage then you can get what I think is one of the best looking, power pushing, getaway cars made.

4.     Audi S5:  A little over year ago I set out to compare luxury cars around the 40 to $50,000.00 range. The cars were Audi A6, Mercedes C Class, Cadillac CTS, BMW 5 Series, Infiniti M, Lincoln MKS, Acura TL, Lexus GS and the Hyundai Genesis. I wasn't looking forward to going to the Audi store because I am not a big fan of VW and that is who owns and makes Audi cars. So my father and I went to Audi first thinking it would be the worst. I was in shock after getting into and driving some Audi's. These my friends are nice cars and you should know the following, VW last year over took Toyota in terms of the world's largest auto maker. How? You might be surprised to learn that not only does VW own Audi but they also own Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and the final company they merged with in 2009 to send them into first was Porsche. VW is HUGE. I have to tell you that Audi without a doubt has the best quality in any car I ever seen in the price range of less than $75,000.00. I am not a big 2 door car guy but this S5 won me over. I was debating to either put the A8, A6, or S5 on this list, so yes that's how many Audi's came that close to making it. I went with the S5 only because there are other cars in the A8 class and A6 class that I like just as much but not in the S5 class. I love the S5's more than usual aggressive styling Audi used. It comes with a 4.2 V-8 engine that delicately pushes out 354hp while still getting 24 mpg on the highway. It also comes with a quattro all wheel drive system that hugs the road with the most comfortable ride you can imagine. When I was sitting at a light I couldn't even hear the engine running and every magazine I have read claims that the Audi MMI system is the easiest to operate of all the luxury brands. MMI stands for Multi Media Interface and controls just about everything from your navigation to sound system to the climate control. If your going in the direction of luxury, test drive an Audi.
